Creating Composition
At college tonight with Julia Borodina I completed my final project painting. Combining photo's I had taken on the Pacific Coast Highway in California, and wild flowers from a castle in Guernsey, I made up a new composition to suit my idea.
My painting was a slightly abstract landscape, taking style options from Joan Eardley, a British landscape artist. I used a big brush and wet-on-wet techniques to start, often using wet fingers to blend the paint for a softer edge. I then applied thicker paint with various sized painting knives for a rough textured look.
With Julia's input I was able to achieve a finished piece I was happy with.
