Commission a Portrait
It couldn’t be easier to commission your own pet portrait, as a personalised gift for a special someone or even as a treat for yourself. Whether it’s to celebrate the memory of a beloved companion, or one that captures the distinguishing character of your pet, you can be sure each portrait will be completed with attention to detail, making sure you get the best likeness to your pet.
Medium
My pet portraits can be created in either pastel, acrylic, watercolour paint or even mixed media. Please feel free to drop me an email regarding style, prices or samples and I will be happy to advise you on the best process for your needs.
Timings
If you would like a portrait for a specific date, please let me know as soon as possible so I can work around you.
Reference
I would like a few really good quality photos of your pet to work from, perhaps one in the main pose plus any other reference for colour and detail. It is important that the photos are taken in good lighting conditions and sharp and in focus – especially for features such as their eyes and nose. Supply as many photos as you like – they will all be returned at the end along with your final painting. Digital files can be emailed to me.
Group portraits
Group pet portraits are possible but please note that the more pets you have in the portrait the more the size will increase and the longer it will take to complete. A group photo can be helpful for me to see a size comparison between the pets. If you require a background in your painting please let me know. We can chat and agree the composition of your portrait before I begin.
Changes
It is possible for me to keep you updated of the work in progress. The final painting will be photographed and emailed to you for your approval. If you would like any areas tweaking I can do this for you as it is important that you are happy with your purchase.
Mounting/matting
A lovely way to finish your pastel or watercolour portrait is to have it mounted/matted (included in the price). All my picture mounts are acid free and cut with a bevel to give your portrait more depth. Acrylic paintings do not require a mount/mat but will be varnished for extra protection.
Framing
It is possible for me to provide you with a matching frame for your pet portrait. I work with quality framers who have many mouldings/colours/finishes to choose from. I am happy to speak to you to discuss your requirements and provide you with a quote.
*Size before mounting.
